The Dolomite Camp, Western Etosha, Namibia
Good Points
The Dolomite Camp has a wonderful position sited on a hillside at the end of a small range of koppies. The outlook is wonderful and spreads right across the plains in all directions, as far as the eye can see, it’s a place where you can see the sunrise and sunset from just one spot.
The whole camp is of good quality throughout including the tented accommodation which is furnished to a high standard. The staff were always very helpful showing that they really what to please, the food was of a high standard and so was the service that went with it.
I understand there are plans for two new waterholes in the near future, one each side of the hill where the camp is built, it will be close to the accommodation so guests can view game from their rooms.
However, I suspect the cost for staying at the camp will increase once the camp get the recognition it deserves.
Negative Points
1). It it is
built on a rocky outcrop and as such moving around the camp may no suit disabled people or people with walking difficulties. There are quite a few steps to negotiate and steep paths to climb. However, there is a golf cart type transport service that may go some way
to helping those guests with walking difficulties.
2). The west facing accommodation is in the full sun from about noon until it disappears over the horizon. As such the balcony and the front part of the bedroom were unusable most of this period due to the heat and intensity of the sun.
Provision of suitable blinds or shade would resolve this issue.
